Skeet/Shotgun Rules

Our shotgun range features five trap ranges (able to throw singles, wobble trap, and doubles trap), four skeet ranges (two of which are equipped for super skeet), three five stand fields, and a seasonal sporting clays walk-through course. All ranges are illuminated for year round and nighttime shooting. We host 16 week leagues in the fall and spring.

Violation of the rules on this page or the Safety Rules page will subject violators to immediate ejection and forfeiture of all range fees! Range masters and management reserve the right to revoke your membership if you violate any of these rules!

If you have any questions about these rules ASK before proceeding to shoot! Any exceptions to these rules must be approved by management before shooting.

General Shotgun Sports Rules

  1. Open or Out. Shooters who violate these guidelines will be asked to leave:
    1.  Actions must be open at all times when not on station and prepared to shoot. Break open guns may be closed when placed in a gun rack but must be opened immediately upon removal.
    2. Firearms must be carried unloaded and with actions open and the muzzle pointed in a safe direction with fingers off the trigger.
    3. Do not load the gun until you are on your station and you are ready to shoot.
    4. The gun must remain pointed down range while on station.
    5.  While on station, the gun must remain pointed in a safe direction (up or down) with the action open and unloaded.
    6. When finished shooting a station the gun must be empty and open before stepping off.
  2. Eye and ear protection is required for everyone forward of the “Bull” rail.
  3. Children (anyone 17 years and younger) must be under the supervision of a parent or guardian at all times when on the property.
  4. All pets must be leashed, kenneled, or under voice control when on the property.
  5. For safety reasons, customers may not go forward of the designated firing areas.
  6. The rental guns may only be used with factory loaded shells – no reloads.
  7. Pistol type shotguns may only be used with the prior approval of management.
  8. This is a target range, the use of shot larger than #6 is prohibited. Shot shells in excess of 1400 FPS are not allowed.
  9. NO STEEL SHOT ALLOWED.

Additional Trap, 5-Stand, and Skeet Rules

  1. Shooters moving from any position on the trap fields must walk behind other shooters.
  2. When moving from one station to the next, the gun must be open and empty.
  3. During registered events, shooters may not fire at any targets other than their own.
  4. Only one shooter may shoot at a time.
  5. No more than 5 shooters will be allowed to squad together at a time.
  6. Any time the Puller/Trapper is down range loading the machines, guns must be unloaded with the actions open. An orange cone on top of a trap will indicate the presence of a Puller/Trapper tending to the machine. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SHOOT WHEN AN ORANGE SAFETY CONE IS PRESENT!
  7. No more than one shell may be loaded during singles games, and no more than two shells may be loaded during doubles games. In the case of 5-Stand or Wobble, two shots may be fired at a single target. The only exception is when shooting a 3 In the Air Event.
  8. While shooting Skeet or Super Skeet, the muzzle of the shotgun must never be pointed in such a manner that it crosses behind the orange safety poles mounted on the skeet houses.
  9. When shooting regular Skeet, all shooters must shoot the High 8 bird before any shooter shoots the Low 8 bird/target.

Construction Work

We will be continuing the construction work on the landfill this summer.  Due to the work being done, Skeet Fields C & D and 5Stand 1 and 2 will be closed from 6am to 3pm Tuesday May 8th and Wednesday May 9th. However, this is an ongoing project that should last through the summer months, so periodically ranges will be closed.  Please check in with the office before shooting. An Open Letter to all BRSP Members

The BRSP Board of Directors (BOD) has carefully considered the current membership system and is implementing some changes. Currently, General Members are charged $119 per year ($99 per year Active Military and Seniors). “Exclusive Park Member”,  (EPM),  membership is $199 per year ($149 for Active Military and Seniors). There is also a Student Membership, for $10.00 per year, for those young shooters participating in leagues and other youth programs who are not covered under a family membership. General members are charged a $5.00 range fee per visit for each individual shooting on the Rifle and Pistol ranges, and increased fees for shooting clay targets, that amount to $1.00 extra per round of 25 targets. EPM members do not pay the range fee, and shoot clay targets at the reduced rate. Both General and EPM memberships are family memberships, which cover your spouse and children living at home under the age of 18 or age 23 with a valid student ID. EPM Members have access to the facility from 7:00am to 10:00pm, seven days a week, 364 day a year, (excepting the annual Youth Day in June). The General class of members may only shoot during the hours the park is open, i.e. those times when the gate is open, and the park is staffed. Recent events with respect to park access and other issues, including liability, have resulted in the Board of Directors (BOD) re-examining the classes of membership. At present only 4.4% of the membership is composed of members in the General Membership classification. As a result of our review the BOD has elected to take the following action: 1.Effective 1/1/18 there will no longer be “Genera”l and “EPM” member, just “Members”. “Members” will have all rights, privileges, and access currently enjoyed by “EPM” Members. The annual cost of membership will be $199 ($149 for seniors and active duty military). Student membership will remain the same at $10.00. Current General Members will be allowed to continue in their current status until their membership expires at which time they will have to pay the increased membership price. Current General Members, who wish to do so before their membership expires, may immediately upgrade their membership on a pro rata basis. Anyone not a current member may utilize the park by paying for a $20.00 48-hour membership and paying the range fees for each shooter and increased clay target fees. The BOD apologizes for any inconvenience that this change in membership structure causes, but we are convinced it is in the best interest of both the park, and the membership. Anyone who uses the park even just a few times a year will make up the difference in price between the current General and EPM membership fairly quickly with the savings on range fees and clay target costs after which there will be ongoing savings. Dave Kaiser President, BOD

BRSP Main Gate Access Issue Resolution

Gate Closure Change Recently because of a continuing problem with unauthorized shooters (non-members and non EPM members) on the Rifle and Pistol range after hours the Board of Directors (BOD) examined the problem closely. It became clear that these folks were taking advantage of the fact that the gate was open for league shooting on the shotgun side after the normal hours on R&P were over for the day at 6:00pm (summer) and 4:00pm (winter). Having unauthorized, unsupervised shooters on the range creates a significant safety/liability problem for the club. Not to mention that these folks were taking advantage of EPMs who pay significant dollars for the privilege of shooting during off hours. Accordingly, we elected to try closing the gate at 4:00pm as of November 20 after R&P went to winter hours. We acknowledged that this was going to be somewhat inconvenient for league shooters, particularly teams with general or 48-hour members. That policy was transmitted by email and by notices posted on each teams’ scoreboard. After hearing from many members and examining other approaches to the problem the policy of closing the gate early is hereby rescinded. In the near future we will have a Range Safety Officer (RSO – employee) present during all hours that an EPM can access the range when either the shotgun end or R&P is closed. This change comes with a not insignificant cost. Thank you for your continued support of BRSP and I look forward to seeing you on the range. Dave Kaiser President, BOD
