This is a fun competitive .22 rifle league designed to teach safe rifle handling and develop basic marksmanship techniques. Youth league is appropriate for all skill levels, but shooters must be able to follow directions and handle rifles safely. Shooters will progress from 13 yard to 40 yard targets by the end of the 10 weeks. We offer four 10-week leagues a year, shooting in half-hour time slots each Monday evening on “F” Range. All shooting will be done under the direct supervision of a Range Safety Officer, but a parent or guardian must be present with each shooter during the league. At the end of each league season there is a potluck and awards banquet.

Rifle/Pistol Beginners League

The Beginners League is a 10 week league suitable for novice or beginning shooters and those new to competitive shooting. This league provides an introduction to fun and friendly competitive shooting in a safe, structured environment. Each week is a different course of fire which will encourage you to shoot safely, accurately and efficiently at a variety of targets. The course of fire progresses in difficulty with targeted coaching by a BRSP staff member. Shooters may use either a centerfire handgun (non-magnum caliber), .22LR handgun, .22LR rifle or a pistol-caliber carbine (non-magnum, no bottleneck cartridges).

Rifle/Pistol Adult League

The Adult Rifle / Pistol League is 10 weeks of dynamic practical shooting appropriate for a variety of skill levels, and is designed to be fun while challenging shooters to improve. Each course of fire (a “stage”) will challenge a shooter’s ability to shoot safely, rapidly and accurately at a variety of steel and paper targets. All stages are shot under the direct supervision of a Range Officer. Stages may include falling and non-falling steel targets, paper targets, and moving targets. Some stages are shot from a stationary position, and other stages require movement to reach and hit the targets. Shooters may participate with more than one type of gun if they choose.

United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) events are a fast-paced shooting competition with lots of running and movement. BRSP is a USPSA-affiliated club, and we run local matches most Tuesday evenings throughout the year. Matches may consist of Standard Exercises and/or Classifiers.

USPSA is a great way to up your shooting game, as it forces you to move and maneuver in ways you may not have experienced previously.

Steel Challenge

Steel Challenge is a speed shooting competition governed by the Steel Challenge Shooting Association that consists of eight standardized stages with steel targets in three sizes; small circular, large circular and square targets. Competitors are scored solely by the time it takes them to complete each stage, and the match winner is the competitor with the lowest overall time. Steel Challenge has 8 standardized stages and each match uses 4 of these, creating a competition where you can focus on building your speed as you gain confidence shooting the stages. BRSP welcomes new participants, and we will happily guide you through your first match.

The BRSP 2-Gun shooting event is a dynamic practical shooting match which challenges your ability to shoot safely, rapidly and accurately at a variety of steel and paper targets from contact distance out to 200 yards. You may choose to shoot a rifle and pistol, or a rifle and pistol-caliber carbine, or a pistol and pistol-caliber carbine. Iron sights, optics, compensators, and high capacity magazines are all permitted.

You may be required to move safely around the range with loaded firearms, shoot from various positions, shoot targets that move, or shoot while you are moving. You may have to reload or safely clear your firearm during the stage. You may be required to shoot pistol using both of your hands, your strong hand only or support hand only. You may also be required to shoot your long gun from either shoulder.
